Shannon Rabon ’20

Early Childhood Education

Occupation: Early Childhood Educator

Success Shannon RabonA 5K instructional assistant with Lexington County School District One says the teacher she assisted in the classroom encouraged her to get her teaching certification. When Shannon Google searched the best South Carolina Christian online programs, NGU was listed first.

“I attend church with a family that has children that attend traditional classes at NGU.  I did a Google search of the best South Carolina Christian online programs, and NGU was the first to appear.  I knew it was meant to be,” she said. “It is a wonderful program with caring, knowledgeable, and professional instructors,” she said. “One of the first courses I completed was E-Learning.  I strongly encourage this class for future online students.  I learned so many things in this course that I used in all my classes going forward.  It greatly benefits those that lack confidence and knowledge in their computer skills.  Computer literacy is a must to be successful in online courses.”

Shannon was immediately offered a contract as an early childhood teacher for the 2020-21 school year. After her graduation, she enrolled in NGU’s first certificate program this summer 2020. Her goal is to maintain a job as an early childhood educator and, after one year, return to obtain her master’s.
