(October 2, 2018) Each semester, North Greenville University’s Faculty Research and Scholarship Committee awards professors for having their research published in scholarly journals. Assistant Professor of Christian Studies Dr. Frankie Melton has been selected by the committee to give a lecture on Tuesday, October 9.
Dr. Ronald Marks is a member of the committee and professor of chemistry. According to Marks, faculty members submit their scholarly achievements for recognition the following academic year by the committee. The first prize winner receives a monetary award.
“The Faculty Research and Scholarship committee was started as an ad-hoc committee by Dr. Paul Thompson in 2014, and in 2015 it became a standing committee,” said Marks.
Melton is being recognized for his presentation to the Evangelical Theological Society on George Whitefield. His presentation is entitled: “A Theology of Preaching: George Whitefield’s Call to Preach and the Eternal Consequences of Hearing Sermons.”
Whitefield was an 18th century English evangelist who is known for his spirit-filled preaching and charitable work in the American colonies.
The lecture will occur at 7 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall. Tickets may be secured for free at the School of Theatre Box Office. For more information, contact the box office at 864.977.7008.
