Boulet Named 2021 SCICU Teacher of the Year

Tigerville, SC (April 14, 2021) Dr. Jon Boulet, chair of the business administration department and professor of economics, is named North Greenville University’s 2021 South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) Excellence in Teaching award recipient.
Each year, SCICU recognizes and celebrates the best of the best with its Excellence in Teaching Awards. According to rigorous guidelines, a faculty member from each of SCICU’s twenty-member institutions is nominated for the award. Each year award recipients are honored at a special dinner in April and awarded a $3,000 professional development grant.
“Jon Boulet is a beloved member of our faculty whose love for students is contagious. I’m excited to see him honored with the 2021 SCICU Excellence in Teaching award,” said NGU Provost and Dean of the University Faculty Dr. Nathan A. Finn.
Boulet came to North Greenville in 2002 with the desire to teach and expand students’ understanding of economics and society. He desired to teach at a Christian University where he could reinforce the students’ faith and understanding how faith in the Lord causes societies to succeed and the lack of it results in failure. He enjoys teaching at NGU and seeks to establish a long presence to create a continuity and history with the university and generations of students.
Besides teaching economics classes at all levels, he also teaches introductory courses in business and statistics. He helped create the NGU’s MBA program, took seminars in IACBE accreditation, and attended the Acton Institution seminar in the summer of 2020. He attended the Hillsdale Free Market Forum in 2019 and 2020, serves on several University committees, and is currently on the Faculty Welfare and Status Committee.
Boulet has long mentored students, aiding them in the development of their careers. He regularly has the economics minors over to his home for dinner and game night with his family. He likes helping students to see that a faculty member while teaching is also a person with a life. He wants the students to understand that faculty are here to help them in this stage of their life.
