Performing Arts and Lecture Series

Experience One of Our Live Events

At North Greenville University, we believe that education goes beyond the boundaries of textbooks and lectures. We understand the importance of nurturing a vibrant campus community, and in doing so, we explore and celebrate the arts through our Performing Arts and Lecture Series (PALS). Through the PALS program, we showcase a variety of art forms for students to gain a deeper appreciation for diverse cultures and traditions.

Concerts Planned for Spring 2025 Performing Arts and Lecture Series Signature Events

North Greenville University will play host to talent from around the world during the Performing Arts and Lecture Series Signature Events this spring. Performances from Ensemble Aubade, The Gesualdo Six, YCA Artists, Frisson Winds, and Naho and Alberto Parrini will take place in Tigerville and will be open to the public.

Set for Feb. 21 at 7 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall, Ensemble Aubade will present a concert “Celebrating the Genius of Louise Farrenc.” The centerpiece of the show is Trio Opus 45 (1856) by Louise Farrenc, who was the first female professor at the Paris Conservatory, where she taught from 1842—1873. Ensemble Aubade includes Peter H. Bloom (flute and alto flute), Francis Grimes (viola), and Steven Sussman (piano).

Hailing from the United Kingdom, the Gesualdo Six will present “Fading” on Feb. 25 at 7 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall. The Gesualdo Six evokes a contemplative atmosphere with music inspired by the ancient service of compline. The concert includes renaissance polyphony by Lobo, Sheppard, and Gesualdo, as well as contemporary reflections by Veljo Tormis, Joanna Marsh, and Gerda Blok-Wilson.

On March 28, Young Concert Artists will present an evening of chamber music at 7 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall. From prestigious institutions such as Juilliard, the Curtis Institute, The New England Conservatory and the Manhattan School of Music, the group includes violinist Risa Hokamura, violist Hsin-Hun-Huang, cellist Lex Cox, flutist Anthony Trionfo, and pianist Chaeyoung Park.

Performing trios, quartets, and quintets by composers such as Beethoven, Mozart, Paulanc, and Gershwin, Frisson Winds will present a concert on April 5 at 7 p.m. in Hamlin Recital Hall. The group is a mixture of young artists and seasoned professionals.

Alberto and Naho Parrini will perform alongside the NGU Orchestra on April 12 in Turner Chapel. The concert includes Antonin Dvorak’s Overture to Wanda, the first movement of Haydn’s Cello Concert No. 1 in C Major, Camille Saint-Saens Introduction and Rondo Capriccioso for violin and orechestra, and Dvorak’s Symphony No. 9 (from the New World).

Tickets for each event in the Performing Arts and Lecture Series are free for NGU faculty, staff, and students. They are also available for purchase in the NGU Box Office located at the NGU School of Theatre.
