NGU Offers Affordable Online Degree Option for Military, First Responders

NGU Offers Affordable Online Degree Option for Military, First RespondersTigerville, SC (April 20, 2022) Your passion for our country led you to serve. North Greenville University’s (NGU) passion for your success leads to a more affordable and accessible option for military members and first responders to earn a four-year undergraduate degree. Beginning the Fall 2022 semester, NGU will offer almost a 50 percent tuition discount per credit hour for its online criminal justice degree program. The regular cost per hour is $495 but will be reduced to $250 per hour.

“This is an exciting time for the NGU online criminal justice degree program,” said Director of Adult and Professional Studies and Associate Professor of Psychology Dr. Marti Glass. “This change in tuition will allow us to equip more first responders to become transformational leaders in their respective fields.”

Intelligent.com, an online resource to assist students and parents in making the best college choice, ranked NGU the No. 8 best bachelor’s degree programs and the best college in the Southeast in 2022. NGU also ranked No. 11 best online criminal justice degree program in 2020.

NGU’s online criminal justice program prepares students to enter one of many professions rooted in criminal justice, including crime scene investigator, law enforcement officer, attorney, cybercrime analyst, probation officer, or social worker – even a special agent with the FBI, DEA, or Secret Service. Students can pursue their passion through various elective courses such as criminal justice, law, and the media. Also, domestic relations, judicial process, juvenile delinquency, law enforcement operations, principles of investigations, terrorism, and more.

Glass wants to stress that not only will military members and first responders receive the discount, but anyone enrolling in the program can take advantage of the cost savings.

“We passed this significant tuition discount in honor of our brave active and veteran military members and first responders, but any student desiring a career in law enforcement is eligible to receive it,” said Glass.

The discounted rate makes pursuing a four-year online degree more affordable and more accessible for working adults.

Greer Police Department Sergeant Jeffrey Smith (’21) has worked in law enforcement for almost 30 years. He said taking online courses at NGU allowed him to further his education, where otherwise, he would not have had the time with traditional classes.

“The online program was ideal for me since I work full-time and have a family. There are sufficient courses available, and it allowed me to manage my own time by completing the assignments on my schedule,” Smith said.

Smith encourages anyone feeling it is too late to go back to school that he had been out of school for 23 years before going back.
