  • Professional Experience

    My experience includes serving as a Baptist pastor for fourteen years. I have also been an assistant in the Department of Philosophy at The University of South Carolina. I have taught courses for The Southern Baptist Theological Seminary and at the Baptist Seminary in Djakarta, Indonesia.

  • My Story

    As a high school student and into my college days, I had plans for a career in law enforcement. Interviews with FBI personnel directed me toward that organization.

    The Lord graciously began to lead me in another direction in the last years of my undergraduate studies at Furman University, where I had majored in philosophy. I completed a Master of Divinity degree at New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and entered graduate school in philosophy at the University of South Carolina, where I served as a graduate assistant.

    I then completed a PhD degree from the seminary. After serving as a Baptist pastor for 11 years, I joined the faculty of what was then North Greenville College in 1992, where I was charged with designing the BA degree program in Christian Studies, the first 4-year degree program at North Greenville.

    I have had the joy of serving at NGU since 1992.

    I enjoy raising English Bulldogs and was a guard for the Atlanta Falcons – a security guard, that is. My wife, Deanna, and I have three grown children, all of whom attended NGU.
