Steps to Take Before Attending Orientation

Login to your My.NGU Portal and set up your NGU email account
Username
We set up your ID as soon as you make your student status official. (Pay your deposit or register for classes.) This ID gets you into your email, Blackboard, and student portal (MyNGU). It lets you print on campus and login to computer lab machines.
Your ID is a combination of your last name and the last four digits of your Student ID number (Ex. wayne1234).
If your last name exceeds 11 letters, it will be shortened so your ID is no longer than 15 characters.
If your last name contains punctuation or special characters, they are taken out in your ID.
Your First ID Password
* For accounts created on or after December 29th, 2021:
Your initial password combines your name and your birthdate.Your password is:
- The first two letters of your last name, first initial capitalized
- The first two letters of your first name, first initial capitalized
- Your birthdate in mm/dd/yyyy format, with backslashes
For example, John Smith, born on January 2, 2003, has the following password: SmJo01/02/2003.
*For accounts created on or before December 28th, 2021:
Your password uses your last name and your Social Security number (SSN).Your password is:
- The first three letters of your last name, first letter capitalized, +
- The last five digits of your SSN
For example, John Smith with an SSN of 123-45-6789 has the following password: Smi56789
Password Requirements
If you would like to change your password, visit sos.ngu.edu and answer three security questions. After this, you can set a password that meets the following requirements:
- 12 characters or longer
- 1 capital letter
- 1 lowercase letter
- 1 number or special character
It cannot contain your name, and you cannot use one of your previous passwords.
Alternatively, you can call the NGU IT Services Help Desk and reset your password over the phone by calling 864.977.7272.

Complete the Financial Aid Process
- Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid. (Note: for SC Residents, the FAFSA must be submitted by August 1st to qualify for the SC Tuition Grant)
- Review your Financial Aid Offer when received or check your MyFinAid portal.
- Sign your award letter by accepting/declining the financial aid offered by logging into your MyFinAid portal. If you are an international student, you must contact the Financial Aid Office for special login instructions.
- If you are borrowing any of the Direct Student Loans offered on your Financial Aid Offer Letter, please be sure to complete the online loan steps that were included with your award letter notification prior to check-in. Login to the federal student loans website using your FSA ID: studentloans.gov
- Complete Online Entrance Counseling for Undergraduate Students
- Complete Master Promissory Note for Undergraduate Students (please note that if parents are using the PLUS Loan, they will also need to complete Entrance Counseling and a Master Promissory Note as well)
- Submit all requested financial aid documentation. Check your email account for any important requests from the Office of Financial Aid. Submit all requested paperwork at least three weeks prior to the FASTpass deadline.
- Verification documents: If you are selected for verification, you will need to submit a verification worksheet and tax documents for the student and parent if you are a dependent student. Occasionally, there are additional forms or documents requested and you will be notified of this.
- Note for all South Carolina (SC) residents: To receive state aid such as the SC Tuition Grant, Life, Hope or Palmetto Fellows scholarships, you must prove state residency by completing the SC Residency Evaluation Form and signing the SC Affidavit. Both forms are located in your student portal and can be found by following this path: Login to my.NGU using your credentials>Select the Students tab>Choose Forms and Information from the left navigation bar>locate the heading Interactive Documents>see Financial Aid forms.

Sign Up for Housing
Registering for housing is simple and it will only take you a few moments to complete. The Residential Services Housing Questionnaire & Agreement is accessed through your Enrollment Portal.
- Log in to the Enrollment Portal
- Click on the Residential Services Housing Questionnaire & Agreement
- Complete the online form.

Register for Courses
Complete your Course Registration Form in your Enrollment Portal. Student Services staff and your Academic Advisor will work together to update you on your registration status. See below for specifics on final transcript policy.
- Have all official transcripts of completed college level courses, dual enrollment credits or AP exam scores sent to NGU immediately.
- Watch your NGU email as you will be notified when it’s time to complete your Course Registration Form and take your Math Placement Test.
- When the above tasks are complete, your file will be sent to an academic advisor who will create your schedule.
- Review the schedule in your my.NGU portal when received by going to the Students tab and locating the heading My Course Schedule.
Final Transcript Policy for Enrollment at NGU
North Greenville University requires that all new first-time students submit a valid final high school transcript by August 1st for enrollment in the fall semester and by January 1st for enrollment in the spring semester. A final high school transcript must be on file by these dates in order to receive federal and/or state financial aid and to officially register for classes. A student may reserve class space by registering for the classes at Future Trailblazer Days or Registration Days but the registration will not be considered official until the final transcript is received. Students may register for classes after the August 1st and January 1st deadlines if the official final high school transcript has been received.
Requirements for Official Final High School Transcripts are as follows:
For new first-time freshmen who have graduated from South Carolina public high schools: A final high school transcript from a public high school in South Carolina is considered official if it meets all of the following criteria:
- Sent directly from the high school from which the student has graduated in a sealed envelope or by approved digital credential service such as Parchment or Scrip-Safe
- List the official month, day and year of high school graduation
- The transcript must contain the title “State of South Carolina, Standard High School Transcript – Final
- All student transcripts must specifically state “SC UGP GPA” on the transcript for students to be considered for aid from the State of South Carolina
- The official transcript must contain the high school principal’s signature.
- The GPA and the date it was calculated must be listed on the transcript
- The final high school SC UGP GPA must be calculated no later than June 15th in order for the student to qualify for aid from the State of South Carolina
For new first-time freshmen who have graduated from a private school in South Carolina: A final high school transcript from a private high school in South Carolina is considered official if it meets all of the following criteria:
- Sent directly from the high school from which the student has graduated in a sealed envelope or by approved digital credential service such as Parchment or Scrip-Safe
- List the official month, day and year of high school graduation
- The transcript must contain the word “final” or the words “final transcript”
- All student transcripts must specifically state “SC UGP GPA” on the transcript for students to be considered for aid from the State of South Carolina
- The official transcript must contain the signature of the principal, administrator, registrar, or designated school official.
- The final GPA and the date it was calculated must be listed on the transcript
- The final high school SC UGP GPA must be calculated no later than June 15th in order for the student to qualify for aid from the State of South Carolina
For new first-time freshmen who have graduated from a home school in South Carolina
- Sent directly from the home school from which the student has graduated in a sealed envelope or from a home school association approved by the SC Department of Education as an Option 2 (South Carolina Association of Independent Homeschools) or Option 3 (see here for details). The transcript may also be sent by approved digital credential service such as Parchment or Scrip-Safe
- List the official month, day and year of high school graduation
- The transcript must contain the word “final” or the words “final transcript”
- The official transcript must contain the signature of the principal, administrator, registrar, or designated school official.
- The final GPA and the date it was calculated must be listed on the transcript
- The final high school SC UGP GPA must be calculated no later than June 15th in order for the student to qualify for aid from the State of South Carolina
For new first-time students who have graduated from a public, private, or home school outside of the State of South Carolina
- Sent directly from the high school from which the student has graduated in a sealed envelope or by approved digital credential service such as Parchment or Scrip-Safe
- List the official month, day and year of high school graduation
- The official transcript must contain the signature of the principal, administrator, registrar, or designated school official.

Prepare to Make Your Payment
- We offer four-month and five-month payment plans, beginning as early as July 1st for the fall semester and as early as November 1st for the spring semester. To set up a payment plan login to your My.NGU portal: Select Students>Student Accounts>Payments and Payment Plans>Make a Payment. You may also pay in full if you wish to do so.
- To qualify for a FASTpass, please have your payment arrangements finalized or your balance paid in full prior to August 1st for the fall semester.

Set FERPA Permissions
- FERPA stands for the Federal Educational Rights and Privacy Act. The Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) (20 U.S.C. § 1232g; 34 CFR Part 99) is a Federal law that protects the privacy of student education records. The law applies to all schools that receive funds under an applicable program of the U.S. Department of Education.
- FERPA gives parents certain rights with respect to their children’s education records. These rights transfer to the student when he or she reaches the age of 18 or attends a school beyond the high school level.
- For NGU officials to talk with your parent or guardian, you (the student) must set up FERPA permissions in the NGU student portal by going to Students>Forms and Information>Set FERPA Permissions>Define New Permissions.

Submit Your ID Photo Online
Students will access the Online Photo Submission portal through an email invite from NGU Card Services. Each student will receive a unique invite which will enable a secure photo upload.
- Click the Submit your Photo link in the email.
- You will be directed to a web page to upload your photo. Tap the screen where it says “Tap to upload photo”.
- Submitted photos must meet the following requirements:
- Should be cropped slightly above head to middle of chest
- Should be taken against a plain, light background
- Must be a color photo
- Must not include sunglasses or hat
- Must be positioned directly facing the camera
- Eyes should be open and looking at the camera
- Photos that do not meet these requirements must be retaken. NGU Card Services will email you with approval or next steps if your photo cannot be used.
- You will receive your NGU student ID card when you arrive on campus for New Student Orientation. Once your photo is submitted and approved, you cannot submit another photo. If you would like a new or different photo on your ID card, please visit NGU Card Services in Tingle Student Center to have a new photo taken and pay the replacement fee.

Submit Your Health and Immunization Records
Complete your Immunization and Health form in your enrollment portal.

Purchase your Parking Permit
Students who will have a vehicle on campus are required to purchase a parking permit. Permits are valid from August 1 through July 31 and may be purchased by visiting the Permit Portal that will open July 1. Be prepared to provide the following current and accurate information:
- Vehicle make, model, year and color
- Vehicle License Plate Number and State
- Registered Owner, Owner’s Phone Number and Relationship to Driver
- Driver’s License Number and State
- Insurance Information
- Credit/Debit Card Information to purchase online
