Welcome to NGU Online
Welcome!
Here is important information you need to help you get started.
Click on the available links below for more information.
User ID & Password
You should have received an e-mail from IT Services with your login credentials. The e-mail would have been sent to the personal email address provided on your application. Follow those instructions to log in to your NGU E-mail, MyNGU, and Blackboard.
If you have not received your credentials or if you are experiencing login issues, please submit an IT ticket under “Services” using this link – helpdesk.ngu.edu or by calling (864) 977-7272.
NGU Email
Please be sure to check your NGU Email regularly, as this will be the official source of contact from North Greenville University. This is very important!
MyNGU
NGU’s Student Portal called MyNGU contains information such as your course schedule, student account and payment links, degree progress, and grade history. Please become familiar with the portal and check it regularly.
Blackboard
Blackboard is where you will find information about your online classes and assignments. You should have access to your courses the week before classes begin. If you do not see your courses there, please let your advisor know as soon as possible, or email IT Services at Helpdesk@ngu.edu.
Also, please take time before the official start of the term to assess your availability and commitment to complete your course load for the semester successfully. E-Learning resources can be found in MyNGU, including tutorials for Blackboard in Student Blackboard Resources.
Student Accounts
Check out the My Requirements and Holds section under the Students tab in MyNGU. You will find a list of items that need to be completed, along with action steps to clear the holds when you first click on the Students tab.
Click on the Students tab at the top of the page, then Student Accounts on the left to check your account. Make plans to have your balance paid in full or set up a payment plan before the semester begins.
To view your Student Statement and Schedule, click on Students tab, then click on Student Accounts link. Scroll down to My Account and click on PDF link for current academic year. Note: If enrolled in Term 1 and Term 2, charges for the entire semester will be reflected in your billing statement. The billing statement always reflects the courses you are currently registered in.
Students awaiting their financial aid to be finalized are still required to make payment arrangements by the first day of classes. Failure to finalize payment arrangements may result in an administrative fee of $250.00 assessed to the balance owed.
If you have questions, review the Student Account section of MyNGU, or contact NGU Central at (864) 663-0186 or ngucentral@ngu.edu.
Academic Records
You can check your degree progress by logging into MyNGU, then clicking on the Students tab at the top, then the Advising & Registration link on the left. Scroll down the page until you reach the gray My Degree Progress
header and then click on the red View all Details link. Scroll down again and click on the red My Degree Progress Report (pdf link). This should pull up an Unofficial Advising Worksheet which outlines the required courses for your degree. This is an important tool as you track your progression throughout your program.
Textbooks
View Slingshot information through MyNGU or click here to log on to Slingshot for your books and materials requirements. Once you are registered for classes, your textbooks rentals, digital resources, and any other required course materials will be prepared for you by Slingshot and the course materials will be shipped to your address on file and/or digitally delivered prior to the first day of class.
The cost of the rental books is $40 per credit hour and will be charged to your Student Account. Please remember that the books are rentals and you must follow the return policy at the end of the semester, or if you withdraw from a course, to avoid additional charges. You may choose to opt out of Slingshot and purchase textbooks on your own. To opt out go to MyNGU, Students tab, Slingshot Textbook Preferences link on left, and click Opt Out. You must opt out each term you choose to purchase your own books.
If you have questions regarding textbooks, please contact ngu@slingshot.edu.
Go React (cloud-based video platform) – Education majors only!
There are several education courses that will require you to use Go React. Go React is a cloud-based video platform used to record lessons you will teach in courses where you have a required field placement. For courses requiring the use of Go React, Slingshot will provide a postcard with a code to access Go React. Please make sure you save this code for the duration of your NGU school career. It is advisable to place the code provided in a safe location where it can be retrieved every time you need to enter the code. Slingshot and Go React do not have a database with these codes and are unable to retrieve them for students. You MUST make sure you keep the code for use when needed. If you opt out of Sling shot, you are responsible for paying $31.99 each semester that you are required to use Go React.
Financial Aid
You have access to your own student financial aid portal where you can review, check the status of required documents, and accept aid any time it is applied during that year. Generally speaking, students with financial aid are packaged for the entire academic year with half of the aid applied to the fall term and half to the spring term. For the purposes of scholarships and required hours, the academic year is made up of Fall, Spring and Summer terms. Students requiring financial aid must complete FAFSA each year. Students who do not need financial aid must waive FAFSA. FAFSA opens October 1st for the following academic year. Students who are SC residents must complete the FAFSA on or before August 1st to qualify for SC Tuition Grant.
If you are requesting Financial Aid, complete your Financial Aid Steps below:
✓ Submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) at https://studentaid.gov/h/apply-for-aid/fafsa.
✓ Review your award letter when it is received and accept/decline the aid that is offered in your MyFinAid portal.
✓ Submit all requested documentation.
If you have any questions regarding your financial aid, please contact Mindi Smith at mindi.smith@ngu.edu
