Music Education

Occupation: Director of Bands at York Comprehensive High School, Education

Both of my parents were former music educators and church musicians. I was surrounded by music and music making during my entire childhood.

Since second grade I had always wanted to be a broadcast journalist until the summer before my senior year of high school. During this summer I attended a drum major academy that was life changing. God shook me during one of our camp sessions. That night I called my parents to let them know I was going into music.

The path was a bit winding, but God led me to NGU. The plan was to be there for one year, then transfer. When it came time to make plans for the transfer, I let my family know that I had found my place, my home. I was staying at NGU.

Her comprehensive band program includes the Cougar Marching Band, Wind Ensemble Symphonic Band, Jazz Ensemble, Chamber Ensembles, Color Guard, and Winter Guard. Her ensembles have received numerous superior ratings at state and regional marching and concert assessments.
