Master of Business Administration
Occupation: Owner, RTE and Company LLC
I received my bachelor’s degree in accounting from Radford University in 1981. I became a CPA in 1988. I always wanted to go back to school and get my master’s degree, but life and careers got in my way. I started a master’s program in 1999, but my husband’s job transferred him to the Washington DC area, and I did not have time to finish my degree.
After a successful career at Freddie Mac, in 2014, we found ourselves moving once again, this time to Philadelphia. I decided to use that time to start the online master’s program at NGU. I enjoyed every class and struggled with a few but graduated with a 4.0 in 2016.
I started my consulting career in 2000 but ended up going to work for Freddie Mac in the Washington DC area in 2010. When we moved to Philadelphia in 2014, I went back into consulting and started RTE and Company, LLC. RTE and Company is a client-focused consulting company with over 90 years of combined experience assisting clients in public accounting, financial institutions, Fortune 500 companies, and privately held companies.
I am passionate about risk management, and I have seen how implementing a risk management function not only positions companies to grow but empowers its employees to start thinking critically. In my experience, our methodology breakdowns silos and improves efficiencies.
I credit NGU for helping me hone my critical thinking skills which I use to help my clients determine the root causes of control failures and implement successful, sustainable risk management departments.
