Yeater Crowned Miss NGU 2019

Tigerville, SC – (January 17, 2019) Hannah Pearson, Miss North Greenville University 2018, passed her crown to Allison Yeater, a junior marketing major from Belpre, OH, during the annual Miss NGU Pageant on Friday, Jan. 11 in Turner Chapel. Yeater, also given the talent award, will compete this summer in the Miss South Carolina pageant.
The first runner-up award went to Caitlin Frederiksen from Piedmont. Bailee Seppala from Taylors placed second runner-up, in addition to winning the Community Spirit and Miss Congeniality awards. Taylor Morton from Charlotte, NC, placed third, and Brittany Baker from Easley placed fourth runner-up and won the Most Photogenic award.
In addition to being crowned Miss NGU 2019 on Friday night, Yeater was also named the NGU Homecoming Queen during homecoming weekend last November.
Inspired by her internship in Guatemala City last summer with Tamar’s Hope, Yeater chose the platform of human trafficking awareness. For the last two years, Yeater has also participated in “Dressember.” During “Dressember,” Yeater wore a dress every day throughout the month of December, raising $700 towards the fight against human trafficking.
When asked what inspired her to participate this year in the Miss NGU competition, Yeater shared, “[NGU Registrar] Pam Farmer encouraged me to compete.”
Farmer discovered Yeater after her performance in “Beauty and the Beast” last spring, in which Yeater played the role of Princess Belle. Despite not having any experience in beauty pageants, Yeater filled out an application and sent it in.
Yeater said she felt shocked when her name was announced as the winner of this year’s competition. With laughter, Yeater confessed that she was not expecting to win, admitting that she bought her dress last-minute from Amazon and repeatedly walked off the wrong side of the stage during the competition. Regardless of how unprepared she felt, Yeater said that she had a great time during the competition, laughing with Atari Jarrett and Brittany Hendrix every time she made a mistake on stage.
Armed with a humble heart and passion for helping others, Yeater hopes to encourage students through her example of trying new things and having fun while doing it.
