Theatre Students Prepare For Next Show

Tigerville, SC (March 26, 2019) With only three weeks of rehearsals, compared to the normal five or six-week rehearsal schedule, North Greenville University theatre students have put in extra time to practice their lines and prepare their characters for the opening night of “The Taming of the Shrew” on April 4, 2019.
“The Taming of the Shrew” is a fast-paced Shakespearean comedy. Although some people may find Shakespearean plays challenging to understand due to the use of unfamiliar words, Dr. Dale Savidge who serves as the director for the play said, “I’m confident the audiences will have a most enjoyable experience with this production.”
Alongside the direction of the theatre faculty, Breanna Jones (expected ‘19) chose this play for her senior project.
Jones plays the character of Katharina, who is the shrew. Jones shared one of the lessons Katharina learns during the show, “The best way to get along with people in this world is to work beside them rather than against them.”
Wyatt Duncan (expected ‘21) who plays the role of Lucentio, demonstrated his excitement for the fact that this show is a much more inclusive experience for the audience when compared to other shows the department has put on in the past.
Without giving too much away about the set design, Duncan said, “The audience gets to be a part of what’s going on and interact with the characters.”
