‘The Art of Persuasion’ Seminar to be led by NGU’s Drake

Tigerville, SC (February 10, 2020) North Greenville University’s Tim Brashier Campus in Greer will host a Business and Leadership Professional Development seminar “Letting Them Have Your Way: The Art of Persuasion.” The seminar will be held at 405 Lancaster Avenue on Thursday, Feb. 13, 8:30 a.m. – 11 a.m.

NGU’s Business and Leadership Professional Development series exists to boost attendees’ skillset quickly, gaining insights from industry experts that can be applied on the job. The seminars are open to the public.

This workshop, led by Dr. Web Drake, dean of the NGU College of Communication & Fine Arts, is for all levels of participants; whether they are in a new manager’s position or a seasoned C-Suit professional.  It will focus on developing practical strategies and skills for persuasive communication.

Drake received his bachelor’s degree in communication and history from Mississippi College, his M.A. in Communication Studies from the University of North Texas, and his Ph.D. in Communication from Louisiana State University. He has also done post-graduate studies at Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in Fort Worth, TX. 

Before joining North Greenville, he served at Union University in Jackson, TN, as chair and professor of Communication Arts and Director of Debate for eleven years. Previously, Drake served as assistant professor of speech and theater at Mississippi College in Clinton, MS.  His debate teams have won ten national championships as well as multiple individual championships in the International Public Debate Association. He has directed mainstage shows at both MC and Union. In 2016, he was selected as the Faculty Member of the Year at Union.
