Stevens Awarded SCICU Excellence in Teaching Award

Tigerville, SC (April 16, 2019) North Greenville University (NGU) honors Dr. Andrew Stevens, an assistant professor of communications, as its 2019 South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities (SCICU) Excellence in Teaching award recipient.
Stevens holds a Doctor of Ministry from NGU, a Master of Arts in Speech Communication from Marquette University, and a Bachelor of Arts in Radio, TV, and Film from Baylor University.
He teaches electronic media industry, television and radio broadcasting, media ministry, interpersonal communication, and speech. He also advises the student-run low-power radio station, WNGR, and the video platform, VisionTV, which is distributed via social media.
Stevens is also an active member of the area sports production scene as a sports camera operator for baseball, football, basketball, volleyball, soccer, and hockey. Outlets include local television, ESPN-3, and the NFL. It is through these avenues that Stevens has been able to integrate students into professional work environments where they can “learn the rope” and develop contacts that have led to growth in their own careers. He has also worked for NewsRadio 106.3 as a fill-in talk show host for the top-rated morning and afternoon talk shows in the #36 media market.
As a teacher, he seeks to live out his faith in and out of the classroom and to encourage others to grow in Christ. This coupled with his desire to prepare students to be the best in their field and craft so they are better prepared to make a difference where ever they serve.
