NGU Ranked Among Best Online Christian Colleges in Nation

Tigerville, SC (July 17, 2019) With the changing demands of the student population, online education grows more popular as an alternative to traditional brick-and-mortar classrooms. These changes provide Christian colleges with the opportunity to blend faith-integrated learning with the flexibility of online education.
Best Colleges, an online source for students in making informed decisions in finding the best school and degree program, has named their top Christian online colleges and universities that are academically rigorous and deeply committed to distance learning initiatives. North Greenville University (NGU) ranked seventh in the Top 50 list.
“I’m excited that Best Colleges has ranked our online programs so high on their list—but I’m not surprised,” says NGU Provost and Dean of the University Faculty Dr. Nathan A. Finn. “Our faculty who teach online are dedicated to both academic excellence and student accessibility. Our E-Learning Center helps the faculty design quality online courses and trains them in how to teach effectively in an online environment. I believe rankings like this confirm the great work that NGU Online is doing to offer Christ-centered online programs to students here, there, and everywhere.”
The schools on this list rank according to three criteria: Christian character, program quality, and academic prestige. According to Best Colleges, the overall effort is to identify the most helpful indicators that a school is sincerely Christian in their culture, academic in their studies, and offers legitimate online options.
NGU addresses the need for flexibility in its educational programs by featuring adult and online undergraduate opportunities that enable students to continue working as they advance their education. Online programs serve students over the age of 22 who want to complete undergraduate-level classes through a flexible format. Learners can earn online bachelor’s degrees in business and leadership, Christian ministries, criminal justice, applied psychology, general studies, and elementary educational studies.
Students at NGU can also increase their marketability by pursuing an online professional certificate that requires only one year to complete. Certificate options include professional investigations, business leadership, foundational theology, business management, and church planting and revitalization. Students can also pursue a variety of online graduate degrees, including an online master of business administration, master of music education, and a doctor of ministry.
Founded in 1892 in northern Greenville County, NGU has grown over its 126-year history to an institution offering undergraduate, master’s, and doctoral degrees. The university’s 2018-19 enrollment was more than 2,600 and the institution has more than 14,000 alumni. NGU is regionally accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges (SACSCOC).
