NGU Alum’s Latest Book Tops Bestseller List on Amazon

North Greenville University alum Jason Young (’00) has published his latest book, quickly hitting the #1 spot on the Amazon Best Sellers list for its category.
Young’s second book, “The Come Back Effect: How Hospitality Can Compel Your Church’s Guests to Return,” was released on July 31, 2018. Even before then, it had risen to the top on the New Releases in Christian Church Leadership list on the book megastore site that is Amazon.com.
Just days later, it also reached the top of the list for the Best Sellers in Christian Church Growth.
Written for both church and business leaders, “The Come Back Effect” emphasizes that the key to growth for any organization is true hospitality that makes guests feel welcome, comfortable, and understood.
“We’re trained to do tasks and functions, and those things are important,” Young says. “So if we perform our tasks and our functions perfectly, we’ve done a good job, right? Maybe not.”
He goes on to explain that people feel an average of 25 emotions per hour. When they leave a church or place of business, what they remember is not if the employees finished their to-do list but if they made them feel good during their visit.
“If you do a great job but the customer doesn’t feel cared for, then you didn’t win,” Young adds.
As a hospitality, leadership, and emotional intelligence communicator, Young speaks often on the topic of hospitality; he has even provided coaching for organizations including Ford Motor Company, Chick-fil-A, and North Point Ministries, a nationally known network of churches with an average of 36,000 people in weekly attendance.
Young graduated from NGU with his bachelor’s in interdisciplinary studies. He recently returned to his alma mater to speak at the Great Customer Service Assumes Great Leadership professional development event on June 21, 2018.
This event was the first of many upcoming professional development opportunities scheduled at NGU’s Tim Brashier Campus in Greer, SC, this fall, which will feature more industry experts like Young.
