NGU Adds Prestigious Hires to Its Roster of Faculty for 2019-2020

New Faculty 2019Tigerville, SC (September 12, 2019) North Greenville University (NGU) announces the hiring of several distinguished leaders this fall, expanding on its already notable roster of scholars. With the latest additions to North Greenville’s faculty and staff, NGU Provost and Dean of the University Faculty Dr. Nathan A. Finn continues the university’s vision and commitment set by NGU President Fant in adding proven and culturally responsive faculty and professionals to support the needs of its student base.

This year’s newest faculty members include:

Dr. Richard Martinez, Ph.D. – Associate Dean for Undergraduate Programs in the College of Business and Entrepreneurship, Distinguished Professor of Management. Martinez comes from Oklahoma Baptist University and is a recognized leader among Christians who teach in the field of business.

Amy Maurer, M.S., M.M.S., PA-C – Assistant Professor for Physician Assistant (PA) Medicine and Principal Faculty. Professor Maurer has been a practicing PA in Winston-Salem, NC, has served as a preceptor for the Wake Forest School of Medicine, and has served as an adjunct instructor at Liberty University.

David Bell, M.A. – Coordinator of Social Studies Education and Instructor of History. Bell is an alumnus of North Greenville, and has been serving as an adjunct professor since the late 1990s. He is retired from the Greenville Public Schools after over 20 years of teaching. He is a collector of military ephemera.

Thomas Willoughby, Ph.D. – Assistant Professor of Christian Studies. Willoughby comes to NGU from pastoral ministry, where he has served for almost three decades. His specialty is Old Testament, and he has taught adjunctively at several schools, including Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary and Moody Bible Institute.

Amy Burke, M.S. – Visiting Instructor of Chemistry. Burke studied chemistry at the University of Kentucky and UNC-Chapel Hill. She began as an adjunct instructor at NGU in Spring 2014 and has now moved to full-time status as Visiting Instructor of Chemistry.

Cheryl Ledford, M.A. – Instructor of Communication. Ledford has spent the last 13 years teaching Public Speaking, Interpersonal Communication, and Business Communication at USC Upstate and Spartanburg Community College. Before her teaching career, Cheryl worked for 20+ years in Sales and Marketing in the Healthcare industry and also the hotel industry.

Jillian Pfister, M.P.H. – Visiting instructor in the Health Science Department. She is a member of the NGU Class of 2013. Before teaching at NGU, Pfister worked as a nutritionist for the state of South Carolina in the WIC department as well as a health screener for the Greenville Health System.
