Tigerville, SC (March 13, 2020) The North Greenville University (NGU) Cline School of Music and School of Theatre are collaborating to bring Lerner and Lowe’s “Brigadoon” to the NGU theatre stage for their spring production.

“Brigadoon” is a timeless, romantic classic which vividly brings the mystery and magic of the Scottish Highlands to life. Tommy Albright, a New Yorker, arrives unexpectedly at the mysterious village of Brigadoon, which only appears for one day every 100 years. Tommy falls in love when he meets a beautiful villager named Fiona. He is then faced with the decision to return to his home in New York or remain in Brigadoon forever.

“We chose this musical because of the beauty and romance of the music and the story, which really celebrates the power of faith and love to empower miracles to happen,” states Amy Dunlap, Department of Theatre assistant dean and director of “Brigadoon.” Dunlap adds, “It offers some wonderful classic roles to our students and provides tremendous challenges in the use of Scottish dialect and intricate choreography.”

There are 32 cast members that consist of theatre majors, music theatre majors, and two faculty members, including bagpipe performances by Assistant Professor of Mass Communication Dr. Andy Stevens. Dr. Cheryl Greene of the Cline School of Music is serving as the music director and vocal coach for the show. The show features popular musical numbers such as, “Almost like Being in Love,” “Come to Me, Bend to Me,” and “Heather on the Hill.”

The show runs April 16-18 and April 23-25. Tickets are on sale now in the NGU Box Office or online.
