Chick-fil-A Comes to NGU

North Greenville University has welcomed its latest dining location: Tigerville’s very own Chick-fil-A.
The new restaurant will officially open its doors at 11am on Aug. 15, 2018 — just in time for the start of the 2018-19 academic year. Chick-fil-A is located in the Tingle Student Life Center at NGU’s campus in Tigerville, SC.
The Chick-fil-A at NGU is open to all NGU family, as well as the public. NGU students can even use meal equals and Crusader Bucks at NGU’s Chick-fil-A.
All are sure to enjoy the same lunch and dinner staples the chain is most famous for, including the Chick-fil-A Chicken, Spicy Chicken, and Grilled Chicken Sandwiches, along with Chick-fil-A Nuggets and Grilled Nuggets. Waffle Potato Fries and milkshakes also make an appearance on the menu.
But besides chicken, Chick-fil-A is of course also known for its exceptional customer service and only six-day workweek. The company’s restaurants are closed on Sundays, honoring the Christian value to set aside a day for rest and worship.
“We’ve been looking at the possibility of adding Chick-fil-A for a number of years, just because it’s a good fit for us culturally. Their goals and their brand and what they stand for as a company really just aligns with North Greenville,” says NGU Vice President for Business Affairs Michelle Sabou.
Sabou has served in her role at NGU for the past 10 years, during which time the university has added or renovated four different dining spaces: Einstein Bros. Bagels, Papa John’s Pizza, Todd Dining Hall, and now Chick-Fil-A. Sabou says that Chick-fil-A was highly desired by NGU students.
The new restaurant is just one of several ways NGU is connected to the national chain that placed fourth on The Harris Poll Reputation Quotient list of 100 most visible companies earlier this year.
Many NGU students work at Chick-fil-A locations in the Greenville area. In Spring 2018 alone, five of those students earned the Chick-fil-A Leadership Scholarship to help pay for their education: Tori Sheriff Goubert, Samantha Hammond, Edwin Martinez, Abbie Poschel, and Eden Santana.
In addition, Bill Tyler, owner/operator at Chick-fil-A of Greer — located at 1379 W. Wade Hampton Blvd. — led the recent presidential search process at NGU and currently serves as chairman of NGU’s Board of Trustees.
Tyler will partner with NGU Dining Services to serve as the operator consultant at the new Chick-fil-A restaurant on NGU’s Tigerville campus.
“I look forward to ensuring we provide the same delicious food and high level of service that guests have come to expect from Chick-fil-A at this new location on the NGU campus,” says Tyler.
Yet another connection NGU has to Chick-fil-A is through NGU President Dr. Gene C. Fant, Jr. Fant was one of the original curriculum developers for Impact 360 Institute’s Fellows program, a gap-year experience that includes leadership training provided by Chick-fil-A’s corporate team. Fant currently serves on Impact 360 Institute’s board of directors, alongside Chick-fil-A executive Trudy Cathy White.
“We’re really excited about all the connections that we have to Chick-fil-A, and we look forward to seeing what kind of partnerships we can develop in the future,” says Fant.
The new NGU Chick-fil-A is located at 7801 N. Tigerville Rd. in Tigerville, SC.
