Tigerville, SC (September 10, 2019) The South Carolina Association of CPA’s (SCACPA) Educational Fund Trustees awarded $44,500 to 31 exceptional students who plan to pursue careers in accounting. The scholarship recipients represent 10 South Carolina colleges and universities.

Amanda Strahl, a junior accounting major from Prince Frederick, MD, received the Past Presidents Scholarship and Lori Blackwell, a junior accounting major from Taylors, received the Lollie Harper Scholarship.

The scholarship recipients will be recognized at a student luncheon during the Fall Fest Accounting Conference on Friday, Nov. 15, at the Columbia Metropolitan Convention Center.

“The faculty members of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship are very proud of Amanda Strahl and Lori Blackwell.  I am very appreciative of the generous scholarships that the South Carolina Association of CPAs has provided for Amanda and Lori this year in recognition of their outstanding academic records and character,” said Dean of the College of Business and Entrepreneurship Dr. John Duncan.  “Both Amanda and Lori have been highly successful in their academic endeavors as undergraduate students at North Greenville University and I am convinced that they will be successful in their remaining academic studies as well as in their professional careers.”

The scholarships are awarded to students of South Carolina colleges and universities who are rising juniors or seniors majoring in accounting or who are master’s degree students at a South Carolina college or university.

“I was so honored to be picked for the SCACPA scholarship. Obtaining this scholarship allows me to further my network of professionals in the accounting field,” said Blackwell. “I hope to go into auditing when I graduate.”

The SCACPA Educational Fund is proud to invest in the futures of these students as they work toward becoming CPAs. Learn more about how to help next year’s winners at www.scacpa.org/ed_fund/.
