First Year Program

The mission of the First-Year Experience Program is to encourage new NGU students to develop spiritually, academically, and socially by means of creative, engaging, and relevant experiences within the context of a Christian worldview. The FYE course is designed to link new students to the university through a variety of informational seminars, service projects, interest sessions, worship opportunities and social functions. Our desire is for all new students to be highly engaged with the University community, develop a clear understanding of the University’s mission and find a connection with an area that would allow them to serve and use their abilities.

Peer Mentors

Peer mentors are a crucial part of the First-Year Experience Program, and they are tasked with assisting first-year students as they transition to college life. Peer mentors attend the weekly class meeting and connect with students outside the classroom on a regular basis throughout the semester. Students who have already completed at least one full-time semester of coursework at NGU and who have already completed NGU’s FYE course are eligible to apply for this scholarship.
