Fine-tune your audition. Perfect your portfolio. Compete for scholarships. And celebrate all-things-creative with your fellow musicians, actors, and artists. That’s ‘Arts Day’ at North Greenville University—and YOU’RE invited!

Join us on Saturday, October 2nd, and prepare to take your talents to the next level. Attend masterclasses and workshops designed to help you refine every part of your artistic ability, including:

  • preparing portfolios
  • selecting audition pieces
  • crafting elevator pitches
  • maximizing your performance impact

You’ll even compete for scholarships and other top prizes through targeted auditions and portfolio reviews with NGU faculty members. Then, settle in for an exciting evening on-campus complete with dinner, an awards ceremony, and exclusive access to North Greenville’s performance of Eurydice.

All to help you explore your craft, elevate your future, and celebrate the arts.

Arts Day Schedule

  • 2:00 p.m.

    Welcome and IntroductionsWeb Drake,Ph.D., Dean of the College of Communication and Fine Arts Music

  • 2:30 p.m. – 3:00 p.m.

    Workshop 1

    Choose One:

    • Musical Theatre – Acting the song (Location: Billingsley)
    • Audition Basics – How to make your audition have IMPACT (Location: SOT 210)
    • Theatre Design – How to prepare a costume portfolio (Location: SOT 212)
    • Music – Theory or Masterclass (Location: Cline)
    • Art – How to prepare an artist portfolio (Location: Runion)
  • 3:00 p.m. – 3:15 p.m.

    Break/Change locations

  • 3:15 p.m. – 3:45 p.m.

    Workshop 2

    Choose One:

    • Musical Theatre – Choosing your audition piece (Location: Billingsley)
    • Acting Choices – Your monologue, your actions, your other (Location: SOT 210)
    • Theatre Design – How to prepare a scenic design/lighting portfolio (Location: SOT 212)
    • Music – Theory or Masterclass (Location: Cline)
    • Art – The Elevator Pitch – How to present in an interview (Location: Runion)
  • 3:45 p.m. – 4:00 p.m.

    Break/Change locations

  • 4:00 p.m. – 5:30 p.m.

    Auditions/Portfolio Reviews


    Theatre – Performance

    • Please prepare two contrasting monologues, 60-90 seconds each

    Theatre – Musical Theatre

    • Please prepare one monologue, 60-90 seconds and 16 bars from a song. Please be prepared to sing acapella, or with a track that you provide.

    Theatre – Design

    • Please be prepared to share your portfolio – photos, drawings, renderings, or theatrical design conceptualizations (visual or written) Along with your resume, be prepared to share specific examples of what you have done or what you have contributed to any design element of any show.


    • Music students should prepare two selections in contrasting styles. We will gladly provide an accompanist if needed so be sure to bring your sheet music.

    Art (2D, 3D, Digital)

    • Please be prepared to share your portfolio and discuss the ideas behind your work
  • 5:30 p.m. – 6:30 p.m.

    Dinner for artists (provided by NGU)

    Location: Todd Dining Hall

  • 6:30 p.m. – 7:15 p.m.


    Location: Hamlin Recital Hall

  • 7:30 p.m. – 9:30 p.m.

    Eurydice (Optional, 1 free ticket per participant)

    Location: Billingsley Theatre
