$1 Million
gift helps NGU provide additional scholarships
(Charleston, SC) –
On Wednesday, September 27, South Carolina Student Loan, the private
non-profit education loan provider for the State, presented a $1 million
check to South Carolina Independent Colleges and Universities, Inc. (SCICU)
for the purpose of providing scholarship funds to undergraduate students
attending South Carolina’s independent colleges and universities,
including North Greenville University.
“This gift
represents the single largest contribution in the history of our
organization,” SCICU Executive Vice President Wayne Landrith said. “We are
extremely grateful for the continued support of organizations like SC
Student Loan that support our goal of making a quality education
affordable for deserving students.”
According to
Landrith, the investment earnings from this contribution will be
distributed annually to the 20 member institutions of SCICU. Recipients of
the South Carolina Student Loan Scholarship will be selected on the basis
of financial need and academic achievement.
This $1,000,000 gift to
the SCICU's endowment will provide an annual $2,500 undergraduate
scholarship to NGU and each of the other member institutions.
“South
Carolina’s independent colleges and universities have been loyal
supporters of South Carolina Student Loan since our inception 32 years
ago,” SC Student Loan President Chuck Sanders said. “It’s our honor and
pleasure to share our success with these schools and their students.”
