Miss NGU places in Miss SC top ten
Spartanburg,
SC - The first time was the charm for North Greenville University and
Elizabeth Tate. This pageant was the first Miss South Carolina contest for Tate
and the first time North Greenville had entered a contestant. As Miss North
Greenville University, Tate finished in the top ten of the annual competition.
The pageant was broadcast live across the state on Saturday,
July 8th on CBS affiliates. While Tate did not win the crown, she did win the
Physical Fitness preliminary competition for Wednesday night and made a positive
impression on many people involved with Miss South Carolina. “Many of the
contestants and local pageant directors from across the state would stop Pam
Farmer (Local Executive Director for the Miss NGU pageant) and myself and tell
me how much they loved Miss NGU and how sweet she was to everyone," said Kelly
McCorkle Parkison, Associate Director for Alumni Affairs and former Miss South
Carolina. "If anything, I was most proud of her for this accomplishment. What
people were saying about her, spoke volumes to me about her character.”
Because she placed in the top ten, Tate was able to compete
in the Physical Fitness, Talent and Evening Wear portions of the pageant during
the live broadcast.
Tate is a 20-year-old senior business administration major and is the
daughter of Terry and Sandra Tate of Gaffney.
Two others associated with North Greenville competed in the
pageant. Jessica Synder, Miss Travelers Rest, is an NGU alum and won a
non-finalist talent award. Heather Peele, Miss Greater Carolina, is an incoming
freshman. |
